  • Something healthy, something filling is just what you want for breakfast but even more so during Pesach when bread is off the menu!  This is naturally sweeter than you expect, and the toasted nuts adds the perfect texture to this smoothie green mixture.  Ideally make and eat as soon as possible.
  • Preparation Time:   10 minutes
  •   No cooking
  • Serves: 2 people

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas – previously sliced and frozen
  • ½ ripe avocado
  • 100g baby spinach
  • 1 kiwi -peeled
  • 75g kale – large stems removed
  • 150g strawberries and/ or raspberries
  • 100ml Almond milk or yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • Garnish:  Fresh berries
  • Raw or toasted nuts – almonds, pecan, walnuts etc

Method

  1. Add all smoothie ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth. Add more almond milk (or water) to thin.
  2. Taste and adjust flavour as needed, adding riper banana (or maple syrup) for added sweetness, more spinach for a bright green hue, or almond milk for creaminess.
  3. For more protein, add nut butter! This also offsets / enhances the natural sweetness of the smoothie.
  4. Transfer to a bowl and top with your favourite berries and nuts.
