  • Latkes are a must when it comes to Chanukah! This recipe is healthier than the traditional version as I have used an Air Fryer, making them extra crispy.
  • Preparation Time: 20 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 30 minutes
  • Makes: 10

Ingredients:

  • 3 large potatoes (approx. 450g)
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 apple – peeled
  • 1 egg
  • 100g giant oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • Garnish:  Apple crisps
  • Sour cream with apple sauce

Method

  1. Start by grating the potatoes, onion and apple. Squeeze out excess moisture by pressing them through a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Place the grated potatoes, onions and apple into a large bowl. Add the egg, oats, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix the ingredients well.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer to 180°
  4. Lightly grease the Air Fryer basket or line with baking parchment.
  5. Take portions of the mixture and shape them into latkes. Arrange them in the Air Fryer basket.  Drizzle a little olive oil on top of the latke.
  6. Use the Air Fryer to cook the latkes for approximately 10 minutes. Then, at the halfway mark, carefully flip the latkes with tongs.
  7. Continue cooking until the latkes turn golden brown. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the latkes.
  8. Before serving, sprinkle with apple crisps.
  9. You can serve them hot with apple sauce and or sour cream on the side.
